Hello. I'm Matt.
Born in Honolulu, living in Las Vegas since 2007, and I've been DJing professionally for 19 years now.
I've had a pretty weird and fun run with it. Still going.
I started playing around Vegas when I was 18 and spent a lot of my early years bouncing around the Strip — Wynn, Encore, Luxor, M Resort, SUSHISAMBA and plenty of other rooms along the way.
For a good stretch of my career I was probably best known for reggae. Brooklyn Bowl became home for a while, I started Rock HI Soundsystem with DJ GoodVybe, and got to play with a long list of reggae artists that I was already a fan of. Reggae in the Desert is still part of my summer every year.
But I've never really liked being stuck in one lane musically.
I'm an open-format DJ and my taste changes constantly. Lately I've fallen pretty hard for electronic music, and AREA15 has become one of my favorite places to play because I get to explore that side of what I like.
Outside of DJing, I like creating things and bringing people together.
During the pandemic I worked at Jardin and ended up getting to know a completely different side of Las Vegas. A couple years later I started throwing appreciation events for people working in the cannabis industry. What started as some fun events turned into something I've continued building since 2022.
That idea of creating things for communities eventually carried into other parts of my life too, including producing experiences and building an event community for Amazon employees here in Las Vegas.
From 2023 through 2025, I stayed busy doing what I've always done — DJing. Corporate events, brand events, residencies, Reggae in the Desert and plenty of random rooms around Vegas. I also run my own DJ agency, which has given me another way to stay involved in the business beyond my own gigs.
I held down a weekly residency at Hola Habibi in the Arts District (up until they closed), continued playing AREA15, and spent a lot of that time building my own events and ideas on the side.
Now it's 2026 and I'm still very much at it.
You can currently find me monthly at AREA15 and every First Friday at Audio Bar in the Arts District, along with guest dj sets around the city and arts district in Las Vegas.
After taking about six months away from producing my own industry events, those are coming back too.
And I'm working on what comes next.
After 19 years, I'm somehow more curious about music, events and bringing people together than I was when I started. I'm still playing, still building, still experimenting and still changing what I think DJ Matt Lucio should be.
