One of the rare DJs who doesn’t hide behind an alias, Matt plays an intoxicating mix of genres in his adopted home on the edge of the Nevada Desert for clients who range from high-end brands to more localised events.

Early Life and Career Beginnings (2007-2010)

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, DJ Matt Lucio made the pivotal decision to pursue a DJ career in Las Vegas in 2007. His early years in the industry saw him performing at the Wynn European pool, a renowned topless pool party, and later, at the Luxor center bars.

 

Notable Engagements (2009)

In 2009, Matt achieved significant milestones as he headlined the grand opening of the Daydream pool party at M Resort and graced the European pool at Encore resort during its opening years. These accomplishments led to resident DJ roles at Sushisamba in the Palazzo casino and Luxor's Temptation pool party. He also shared his music at Mixxx nightclub at The Hotel.

Musical Directorship and Growth (2010-2012)

Matt's career continued to evolve as he transitioned into a music director role at Sushisamba in 2010. This phase allowed him to refine his distinctive sound and style.

 

Milestones and Features (2011-2012)

The years 2011 and 2012 brought noteworthy features, with Matt serving as the featured DJ for The Dew Tour volleyball events and making guest DJ appearances during Spring Break events at The Palms Casino and Blush nightclub at the Wynn. He became a regular fixture at the monthly First Friday event in the Arts District & Fremont St. in Las Vegas, connecting with diverse audiences.

Residency at Brooklyn Bowl and "Rock HI Soundsystem" (2014)

Matt's journey reached new heights in 2014 when he became the resident DJ at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. This stage provided him with opportunities to open for an array of artists, from local reggae bands to international acts like Iration, Fortunate Youth, Iya Terra, Katchafire, Natural Vibrations, and Tribal Seeds. During this period, Matt introduced the groundbreaking "Rock HI Soundsystem" alongside DJ Goodvybe.

 

Diverse Musical Exploration (2015-2016)

The years 2015 and 2016 saw Matt diversifying his musical repertoire. He made appearances at Dancehall Fridays and Reggae Riots block parties, showcasing his versatility. His performances extended to the Monte Carlo's Yusho restaurant on the Las Vegas Strip. In 2016, he made his debut at Commonwealth, a popular bar on Fremont St., and continued to share his craft as a guest DJ at The Artifice.

 

Residency and Musical Refinement (2017-2020)

Matt's commitment to his craft led to a residency as the resident DJ and music director for Sugarcane Raw Bar Grille at The Venetian in 2017. Over the next three years, he played sets at Chef Lorena Graces' acclaimed Chica restaurant. Simultaneously, Matt maintained a vibrant presence on Fremont St. with performances at the Downtown Cocktail Room.

Adapting to Change (2020)

The year 2020 presented unique challenges to the music industry. In response, Matt adapted by taking on the role of Director of Talent for a Las Vegas DJ agency, while also working as a delivery driver at a local dispensary, showcasing his flexibility and dedication.

A Humble Return (2021)

In 2021, Matt returned to the local DJ circuit, embracing humility. He debuted as a monthly guest DJ at Nevada Brew Works during First Fridays in the Arts District. He also released "Future Beats for Fans Vol1" and participated in both Pure Aloha festivals that year.

 

Celebrating the Industry (2022)

Matt continued to celebrate the music industry by producing iconic events dedicated to recreational cannabis workers, paying tribute to an industry he deeply appreciated during his time as a delivery driver at Jardin during the pandemic. He made a debut appearance at Reggae in the Desert and secured a DJ residency at Area15's Emporium Arcade Bar, further enriching his musical journey.

 

Industry Staple (2023)

Throughout 2023, Matt graced the decks every Saturday night at Taverna Costera in the iconic Arts District and every Monday at Area15's Asylum Arcade Bar. Beyond these regular gigs, he curated exclusive DJ sets for luxury and cannabis brands, alongside hosting industry appreciation events, a testament to his unwavering passion for music and dedication to his craft. Matt also continues his residency at Reggae in the Desert in Las Vegas Nevada.

Current Endeavors (2024)

 In 2024, DJ Matt Lucio can still be found spinning tunes as a resident DJ at Area15, the captivating immersive entertainment district located just a stone's throw away from the Las Vegas Strip. Within Area15, he graces venues like Oddwood, LiftOff, and Asylum Arcade Bar, each offering its own unique atmosphere and experience.

Furthermore, he remains committed to sharing his music and positive energy at events like Reggae in The Desert 2024.

​

Matt's efforts extend beyond the DJ booth. He's also dedicated to organizing Agent industry events, now in their third year, gatherings designed to bring together and uplift the recreational cannabis industry and the people involved.
